Sadly, I couldn't attend the event that night. What was the general feel? Any conclusions?
Wow, finally a post. Thanks. Ok, my conclusion: not much really. I mean, the meeting was a speech about… to tell the truth, I’m not really sure what was about, now that I think about it. I mean, is the same series of proposals form the municipality with the same empty background: no direction – no planning – no objectives – no consideration towards the people. I keep on thinking on the idea that Nicosia is dying of cancer, and all that the authorities do is put some band-aids over it: no solution of the main problems, and not even in the close horizon.Good thing, as always, is the participation of the neighborhood. The municipality is very receptive when they say: “we would like to have your opinion as citizens…”, but since the meeting at Famagusta Gate, more than one year ago, the Mayor of Nicosia has learned a lesson, and there is no more replies to questions in these meetings. As result, we had another two monologues, one from each part, autorities and neighbors. Dialogue doesn’t exist. So, in conclusion, things are in the same place they were. Still no light at the end of the tunnel….These are my individual opinions; I’m not talking for the whole of the group here. Hope someone else can share their views!
